CIRCULAR ECONOMY IN THE CONTEXT OF SUSTAINABILITY IN THE EU AND TÜRKIYE
Synopsis
As a result of globalization, technological progress, industrialization and rapid population growth, the increse in consumption trends, the increase in energy use and the transformation of raw materials into waste constitute an obstacle to the growth of world economies. The environmental pollution that comes with the linear systen causes great damage on the present and future generations. The environmental problems faced by all the countries of the world due to the buy-use-throw model called linear economy have caused the governments to produce a solution in this regard. The key point of achieving sustainable groeth in this economy model is; it is to add value to the economy by adopting the circular economy model in which resource waste is reduced and zero waste is considered as the primary goal. By following the circular economy model, waste management and green environmental policies, it is becoming a leading model of leaving a clean and transferable world to future generations. In this study, the circular economy model policies followed by EU countries and Türkiye will be discussed and their contribution to sustainability will be evaluated.
